About Girls Incorporated of Owensboro-Daviess County

Herstory

Girls Incorporated, formerly referred to as Girls Club of Owensboro-Daviess County, was founded in 1969 through the efforts of the of the Junior Woman’s Club and interested community leaders. It began in one small apartment in 1970 and has been growing ever since. In 1980 the organization moved into its new home – Baltzer Hall. In 1990, Girls Clubs of America changed its name to Girls Incorporated® and all local affiliates followed suit – hence the new name – Girls Incorporated® of Owensboro-Daviess County.

In 1999, an addition to Baltzer Hall was added (the Patti Rayburn Annex) and that year a second location was opened in Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. In 2004, Girls Incorporated transferred to First Christian Church for the after-school program and summer programming takes place at Zion United Church of Christ.
